They met during their time at ETH juniors, the junior enterprise at Europe’s leading technical university. In multiple consulting projects they observed a clear necessity for automating human perception across industries using technology. During this involvement, a project with Garaventa AG marked a turning point, resulting in the spin-off Mantis and a first proof-of-concept of what is Mantis Autonomy today. To kick-start the commercialisation of the first product, the ongoing collaboration with the Doppelmayr-Garaventa group was formalised in 2022. Today, they enjoy every work day at Mantis combining their passion for winter sport with their fascination for AI technology.

Kennengelernt haben sie sich während ihrer Zeit bei ETH juniors, der studentischen Unternehmensberatung an Europas führender technischer Hochschule, der ETH Zürich. In mehreren Beratungsprojekten sahen sie branchenübergreifend eine klare Notwendigkeit, das menschliche Sehen durch Technologie zu automatisieren. Ein Projekt mit der Garaventa AG markierte dabei einen Wendepunkt, der zur Gründung von Mantis und einem ersten Proof-of-Concept der heutigen Mantis Autonomy Software führte. Um die Kommerzialisierung des ersten Produkts in Gang zu bringen, wurde 2022 die laufende Zusammenarbeit mit der Doppelmayr-Garaventa-Gruppe formalisiert. Heute freuen sie sich jeden Tag aufs Neue bei Mantis, ihre Leidenschaft für den Wintersport mit ihrer Faszination für KI-Technologie zu kombinieren.

Ils se sont rencontrés alors qu'ils travaillaient pour ETH juniors, le service de conseil aux entreprises pour étudiants de l'ETH Zurich. Dans le cadre de plusieurs projets de conseil, ils ont constaté la nécessité d'automatiser la vision humaine grâce à la technologie, et ce dans tous les secteurs. Un projet avec Garaventa AG a marqué un tournant qui a conduit à la création de Mantis et à une première preuve de concept de l'actuel logiciel Mantis Autonomy. Afin de lancer la commercialisation du premier produit, la collaboration en cours avec le groupe Doppelmayr-Garaventa a été formalisée en 2022. Aujourd'hui, ils se réjouissent chaque jour de nouveau chez Mantis de combiner leur passion pour les sports d'hiver avec leur fascination pour la technologie de l'IA.

Mantis develops and distributes two products for chairlifts: MANTIS AUTONOMY and MANTIS ASSISTANCE. These are AI-powered camera systems designed to increase passenger safety. Using cameras, the software automatically detects dangerous situations during the loading and unloading of chairlifts and stops the lift if necessary. Both systems are retrofittable to existing chairlifts. The goal is to introduce the system across the entire winter sports industry and make the operation of ropeways safer and more economical for ski resorts.
